JOHN CAYGILL

ELIZABETH ALLOTT

John CAYGILL was born in November 1828 at Askrigg, Yorkshire, England, a son of Thomas Caygill and Mary PRATT.  In October 1850 John married Elizabeth ALLOTT at Bradford, Yorkshire. 

Elizabeth Allott was born in February 1821 at Birstall, Yorkshire.  Her parents were Joseph Allott and Martha KITCHINMAN. 

John and Elizabeth Caygill had six children, all born in Bradford.  In 1863 the family migrated to Christchurch, New Zealand. 

John Caygill died in Christchurch in 1893 and Elizabeth died at Ashburton in 1903.

Their children were:

Mary Caygill             (1852-1923)   married    James HESELTINE

Susann Caygill       (1854-1929)    married    William Bowes CLARKSON

John Allott Caygill  (1856-1899)    married     Martha CLOSE

Frances Alice Caygill (1859-1859)

Martha Caygill          (1860-1914)    married   John CREIGHTON

Obed Caygill             (1862-1930)    married   Sarah Jane ROBSON
